New Chapter: Luoyang Brocade Ch. 11 Part 1

Chapter 11, Part 1: Tangle

The next day, Ling Xiao chose one little servant named Shuang Xi to go to the home school.

Due to this, Ling Xiao’s mood was very good. He stayed in Qiu Shui Pavilion for a long time to chat with Ling Jing Shu. His white and beautiful face floated with excitement and rosiness.

Ling Jing Shu did not feel a little bit impatient, she listened with a smiling face.

The guy cousins in the residence were all attending home school. Ling Xiao whole day stayed in the inner residence, although he did not need to worry about food and clothings, he was actually very lonely. Those that he come in contact with are the female of the residence. The only one who truly had the patient to listen to him was Ling Jing Shu.

“Oh that’s right, when I came over, I met Lu Family cousin.” Ling Xiao suddenly mentioned about Lu Hong, “He is very kind and friendly, and he also talked to me for a while!”

Ling Jing Shu’s face turned cold.

Fortunately, Ling Xiao’s eyes could not see, and she did not know what was her reaction at this time. He continued to talk with a smile, “Cousin Lu praised me when he heard that I had send a little servant in place of me to the home school to study. I told him it was your idea, he praised you for being very smart. He also said that the peony planted by you is very pretty, saying you have a pure heart with spirit.”

Ling Jing Shu didn’t want to hear anything related to Lu Hong. She interrupted Ling Xiao, “Ah Xiao, grandmother’s seventy birthday is coming soon. All the invitations had already sent out? Big uncle and his family have not arrive in Ding Province, I wonder if they met with some issue and delayed on the road!”

Ling Xiao’s attention was suddenly shifted and he sighed with anxiety, “Yes, grandmother has been talking about big uncle’s family for two days.”

From the Capital to Ding Province, it was thousands of miles away, if anything happened on the road, it would delay the trip. It indeed was a thing to be worried about.

“Maybe they will arrive today.” Ling Jing Shu smiled and comforted Ling Xiao. “Big uncle’s family traveled using official ship, and they are using the official road. Those thieves would never dare to approach them. You don’t have to worry so much.”

Ling Xiao nodded obediently.

Ling Jing Shu was silent for a moment and suddenly she said softly, “Ah Xiao, I have something to discuss with you.”

Ling Xiao laughed, “If you have anything, you can just say it out. You use such serious tone, I feel not used to it.”

The both of them were born with a difference of only one hour, but Ling Jing Shu had been taking care of him like a real big sister. After he became blind, Ling Xiao replied even more on her. When Ling Jing Shu talked, Ling Xiao would always obediently followed.

Ling Jing Shu’s eyes became soft and she said lowly, “Ah Xiao, that year after you fell down, your brain had suffered injury that was why it had caused you to become blind. All these years, many famous doctors had come to treat you but they failed to cure you. I am thinking, the doctors in Ding Province are not that brilliant. the real masters are mostly in the imperial medical hall. So, I want to take you to the Capital to seek medical treatment and cure your eyes.”

Ling Xiao looked surprised and confused, he could not react at all. After a while, he stuttered and said: “B-b-but… will father and grandmother let us go to the capital alone? Even if we go to the capital, how do we find the famous doctors?”

Ling Jing Shu had been thinking about this since her reborn. At this time, she talked with confidence, “We can go to the capital with Big Uncle’s family and stay in their house for a period of time. Big Uncle and Big Aunt are there to take care of us. I don’t think father and grandmother will be worry about us being along.”

“After arriving in the capital, I will be thinking of how to look for a famous doctor, you don’t have to worry about it. The worst result is just to maintain the status quo. If your eyes managed to be cured, you will be able to see again. Don’t you want to attend school and exams like the others?”

Of course he wished to!

All these years, he had dream of it almost every day: his eyes were cured and he could see things again. He could read and write and take the exam. He would not be the waste in the eyes of everyone, and would not be a burden for Ling Jing Shu again.

Ling Xiao’s white face floated with a strange blush, his breathing became short and unstable. He muttered with uncertainty, “Do I really have the chance to see again one day?”

Ling Jing Shu’s heart was filled with heartaches, she held tightly onto Ling Xiao’s trembling hands and firmly said, “Yes, there will definitely be such a day. Ah Xiao, you have to believe me!”

Ling Xiao nodded hard.

“What I said today, only you and I know about it. For the time being, don’t let anyone know about it first.” Ling Jing Shu quickly said, “I will handle everything, you don’t have to worry about it.”

Ling Xiao nodded subconsciously, and then said with a sigh: “Ah Shu, if you do not have me this burden, how good will it be. You can be like Cousin Wan and Cousin Xian, enjoying your own leisure moments, thinking about how to dress yourself up and make yourself more beautiful. It’s all my fault.”

“You are not a burden to me.” Ling Jing Shu said softly, “We are brother and sister. In this world, we are the closest people to each other. As long as your eyes can be cured, I am willing to do anything for it.”

  1. You know, I went on an entire side trip trying to figure out whether the capital and the province could really be thousands of miles apart, and how far across actual China (it’s 2000 miles btw), etc. And then I realized it’s probably figurative lol.

Going to the capital to cure Ling Xiao’s eyes is an interesting way of making sure the MC stays where the action is. I like it. I’m not so sure about her promising he’ll see again. I don’t think she has any basis for saying this, so I feel like it’s very risky to give him what could easily be false hope.

    Thanks for the chapter!

    1. I wonder if she ran across any really good doctors in her previous life. Even if she just heard about them in the past, if they are in the capitol, then she can scheme to get her brother under his care.

    2. Yeah I was also worried she might give him false hope… but then again maybe she is scheming to get her brother to agree to leave this place?
