  1. Thank you for translating this! Is a good story. To bad you cut the story into so many unnecessary parts. It makes you want to drop it. You can’t have a cursive reading when you need to go back a couple of pages and so on. There is not even a next chapter and only empty pages in between. Please don’t get me wrong. I appreciate your efforts and as well your willingness to pick this great novel. Especially because is a great novel I believe you should give te readers a Little respect. Thank you.

    1. I have over 300 posts. The amount of time it would take me to go back and make “next buttons” would honestly be better spent translating. I’ve notified readers that I will NOT be doing navigation buttons and that all available chapters are in the Table of Contents where they belong. If you think it’s “disrespectful” for readers to click between pages back and forth to read what you call “a good story,” then by all means, please get a “little respect” elsewhere and not read what I translate. Thank YOU

  2. The main thing to take from the original comment is that the chapters are cut into too many parts. I think readers would care less about the navigation if you had released the full chapter in a single post because the way it is now, it disrupts the reading flow. It is kinda like cliffhangers except it leaves the reader more frustrated. What could be done instead is that you have an ongoing draft, where you can update it with all the parts as you go. That way, you only have to update once a week or whatever the update schedule is. Maybe two parts or three for extremely long chapters. This will also reduce the number of posts you have to manage.

Readers can’t dictate how you translate and release chapters, but I think you are actually driving readers away. I mean, two out of the three current reviews for the novel on Novelupdates mention this as a key reason for dropping the novel. I think chapter 3 alone getting split into 10 parts is pretty insane. Couple that with the lack of navigation menus makes it really difficult to enjoy the novel. I also understand that you have other novels to translate, but I think it is less productive to be handling so many at one time. When I looked at your bio, I was really surprised to see the amount you were translating.

    1. I translate novels that are sitting there untouched and unfinished. I split chapters into parts because looking at a chapter of 4800+ words make me ridiculously unmotivated. You are correct that how I translate and post are at my discretion, just as whether and how readers read or not, are AT THEIR DISCRETION. Once I post, the words are online. Whether someone wants to read the words or not, is entirely up to her. It’s a free country. I’m not forcing anyone into doing what she doesn’t want to do. If she doesn’t want to read and drops the novel, as you pointed out that they do on Novelupdates, she is free to do that. If she wants to wait until the entire chapter is posted, then she is free to do that.
I translate for the hundreds of readers who don’t mind how I do things because they understand that translating is not easy and that I am doing this out of my own free time. Also, I pick up a variety of projects, because I feel that readers would rather read novels in parts, rather than not read the novel at all because it has been dropped or the translator disappeared. True, this may not be as “productive,” but I apologize that I don’t know how to pick which group of readers from which novel to disappoint by dropping the novel so I can be deemed as “productive.”
That being said, I have no problem dropping any of the BLs with long chapters that were on hiatus and untouched that I am translating if ANYONE thinks that she can do a better job than me. Please let me know to drop the novel so someone who has ample amounts of free time and can split chapters into parts that won’t “disrupt reading flow” can take over. But until someone does that, I will continue doing what I am doing and splitting chapters into manageable parts for the readers who appreciate what I do.

  3. What I was suggesting was that you have a draft open for a chapter, and translate a bit of the chapter each day as you are doing now with the parts until the chapter is completed. Then you can release the draft on the day that you want so that you minimize the number of posts you have to make. Basically do what you are doing now, but instead have it all put in one post.

I understand that translating is difficult, and without you, many readers could’t enjoy these novels and would have to MTL them if they so wish. It is just that seeing the “I have over 300-500+ posts” at the top of each post makes me thing there should be a better way to do things. You don’t have to update so frequently. I think there is more value in updating once a week or every two weeks with a whole chapter.

What I don’t understand from your comment as well is that you apparently don’t have “ample amounts of free time” as other translators yet you are taking up so many projects. You “pick up a variety of projects because” you “feel that readers would rather read novels in parts…” It doesn’t explain why you are doing so much to yourself. You said it yourself that “looking at a chapter of +4800 words makes” you “ridicuously unmotivated.” You’re translating so many different novels that you HAVE to “split chapters into manageable parts.” Why do you feel compelled to pick up so many dropped novels? Why not stick to 2-3 and finish them then come back to the others?
